Incense of the Bible - Myrrh: The dried sap of a small desert bush found in central Arabia, myrrh was highly prized throughout the Holy Land as a perfume, cosmetic, and for sacred religious ceremonies. It is one of the ingredients of the "oil of holy ointment". It was also used in the Hebrew purification ceremony of women. A gift of great value, it was given to the infant Jesus by the wise men. Jesus, while on the cross, was offered, but refused, "wine mingled with myrrh," a mixture then used as an anesthetic. Myrrh and aloes where also brought by Nicodemus for embalming the body of Jesus.
This aromatic incense burnes with a warm and pleasing fragrance. Approximately 18-20 sticks.
